HOW TO USE WATERLESS COOKWARE

Kitchen Craft waterless cookware is easy to use and clean. Your Kitchen Craft Cookware arrives packaged with a recipe book and a very helpful video for your review. You can use all of your current recipes as well as oil, water and seasoning if you choose. However, with a few slight alterations, you will discover delicious dinners with little to no fat or sodium.

The ABC’s

  1. If anything is damaged in shipment, contact Kitchen Craft’s excellent customer service at 352-483-7600.
  2. Wash all your cookware in hot soapy water or a dishwasher before first use. Clean with Americraft Stainless Steel Cleaner, Cameo, Barkeepers Friend or Kleen Keen. Stainless steel is non-porous and lets you see any residue on surfaces. Most metals are porous, dark and it is difficult to tell if they are clean. With Kitchen Craft, you will always know your cookware is clean. The chemicals and minerals in most water will sometimes leave a white or blue film. Cameo, mixed with a little water to make a paste, and a damp towel will remove all residues. Cleaning your cookware while it’s “hot” is a good idea to prevent food from drying and adhering to the surface. If it does dry on, soak the utensil for a few minutes and clean as usual.
  3. TURN THE HEAT DOWN. Your cookware has 7 layers of special metals to conduct heat. Medium to low is all you need to know.

 

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What should I do before I use my waterfree cookware?

A: Before using your cookware the first time, wash each utensil in hot, soapy water. Use a sponge or dishcloth to remove any manufacturing oils. Rinse with hot water. Dry promptly to prevent formation of water spots.

 

Q: Is my cookware compatible with my induction stove?

A: Kitchen Craft cookware is ok to use on any induction stove manufactured in 2012 and later.

Q: How do I remove heat tints and food stains?

A: Golden brown or blue heat tints may result from persistent overheating or stains may result from action of minerals in food. Sulphur-dried fruits should be cooked with the cover removed to prevent staining. Make a paste with water and a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner. Apply paste with a cloth or sponge, and rub lightly in a circular motion. Wash utensil again, rinse then dry promptly. Do not use oven cleaner on your utensils.

Q: Can I remove minor scratches?

A: Small scratches and marks are not damaging will result from normal, everyday use. Avoid hitting metal kitchen tools against the rim of your cookware and do not cut or chop food on the stainless steel surface with a knife or other sharp-edged tool. Careless stacking can also cause unnecessary marring of the stainless steel finish.

Q: Why will the water seal not form?

A: If there is excessive steam and spattering when cooking or a water seal will not form then heat may be too high or there is too much food or liquid in the utensil. To correct, begin on medium heat, then reduce to low. Use the proper size utensil for food. Add liquid only as stated in the instructions.

Q: How do I remove burned-on or dried-on foods?

A: Let the unit cool. Partially fill with warm water and bring to a boil over medium heat until food particles loosen. Let utensil cool again. Extreme temperature changes may cause any metal to warp. Your cookware will not warp unless carelessly subjected to unnecessary abuse. Avoid the use of excessively high heat and do not pour cold water into a hot utensil. Wash utensil in hot soapy water, use a sponge, dishcloth, nylon net or plastic pad. Do not use a metal scouring pad or harsh scouring powder on the polished stainless steel finish. Rinse thoroughly with clear hot water. Dry promptly to prevent formation of water spots. Your cookware may be safely washed in an automatic dishwater although continued dishwasher use may dull the handles and knobs due to the harshness of the soap.

Q: How do I clean my cookware after use?

A: To maintain the attractive appearance and cooking efficiency of the cookware, it is important that it be cleaned thoroughly after each use. Food films left on the cooking surface will cause discoloration when the utensil is reheated.

HELPFUL COOKING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. The diameter of the burner on your range top stove should be equal to the diameter of the cookware selected. When using a gas range, make sure the flame does not extend up the sides of the cookware.
  2. Choose the unit that accommodates the quantity of food you need to prepare. Do not over-fill your cookware.
  3. To brown or sear meat: With the lid on the unit, preheat the unit while EMPTY.
  4. To cook food, that does not need to be seared:
  • Rinse food
  • Place in unit
  • Place the lid on the unit
  • Use medium to low heat

(Until you are comfortable using the waterfree method, use 1-2 tablespoons of water per cup of food. Also, do not leave the kitchen area until you are used to your new cookware with your stove.)

  • After you see vapor escaping for 60 seconds:
  • Remove the unit from heat
  • DO NOT LIFT LID until the desired cooking time has elapsed
  • When your food has finished cooking:
  • Remove food from unit
  • Immediately put warm water in the unit
  • Let stand while you enjoy your meal
  • Clean with warm soapy water
  1. Occasionally, food will stick. We suggest the following:
  • Make a paste with stainless steel cleaner
  • Clean the unit using a circular motion, with either a paper towel or a soft cloth
  • DO NOT use cleaner containing bleach

*IMPORTANT: If your lid ever locks down on your cookware, simply place the cookware on medium heat until the lid releases. Do not place a hot lid flat on a glass stove top, always place the lid knob side down.
